GLWS. An intelligent, insightful wellbeing tool

A wellbeing tool with a foundation in organisational psychology

GLWS is based on robust, evidence–based research and over 50 years combined professional experience in organisational psychology, leadership development, executive coaching and capability design initiatives.

GLWS was created by EEK & SENSE, a long–term partnership between psychologists Audrey McGibbon and Karen Gillespie.

While working with corporate leaders and professional service firms, Audrey and Karen began noticing that leaders were experiencing persistent threats to their wellbeing. Worse, this was having a knock-on effect, negatively affecting their teams’ and their organisations’ performance and productivity.

Drawing upon their extensive experience in senior roles with SHL (now CEB/Gartner), one of the foremost psychometric test designers and publishers in the world, and further study into wellbeing and wellness, they designed a new, sophisticated wellbeing tool.

Karen and Audrey could see the emerging trend for wellbeing becoming a mainstream leadership growth area. And they knew that by developing a measure to help leaders and teams identify wellbeing priorities and take actionable steps to improve them and maximise performance they would help fill an important gap in the leadership development space.

And so GLWS was born.

Audrey McGibbon

Co-Founder

Audrey wishes she knew at 30 what she now knows at 50. The link between wellbeing, success, strong and sustained performance, sense of fulfilment, life satisfaction and happiness seems so obvious now – but it has taken a lifetime of experiences and 20 years+ as a psychologist to get her head around it.

It’s still a ‘work in progress’ – but it’s a work in progress that has become the mainstay of Audrey’s professional life. GLWS has been a source of great joy and personal inspiration, enabling Audrey’s talents for gently challenging clients’ self-awareness, judgement, and behaviours to reach more leaders than she would ever have imagined possible.

In her personal life, Audrey is deeply compassionate and understanding of how messy life can be, and that we often have to look hard for the positives, dig deep to nurture key relationships, stay focussed on self-care.

A psychologist since 1990, she was Managing Director of SHL Australia Pty Ltd, a role that gave her first hand insights into the stresses and strains of life as a senior executive and the impact of leaders’ behaviours on a team’s wellbeing. Since setting up EEK in 2001, Audrey has coached 250+ senior executives and partners on an individual and team basis. She and Karen worked closely together for many years (pre-dating GLWS by a decade), and have enjoyed a strength of partnership that is a rare and beautiful thing!

Audrey has an MA (Hons) in Psychology and Business and an MSc in Psychotherapy Studies, focussing on the factors that drive wellbeing for senior executives. She is a Registered Psychologist in Australia, as well as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), an Associate Fellow of the BPS and a member of the Division of Occupational Psychology and Psychotherapy Sections of the BPS.

Karen Gillespie

Co-Founder

Karen is passionate about helping others meet the daily challenges of being at their best, feeling fulfilled at work, staying physically fit and healthy and being present for their significant others. She tries to ‘practice what she preaches’ about wellbeing as much as possible, by spending time with her family, walking her dog, doing yoga and taking good, long holidays. Karen really enjoys building warm and supportive relationships with her clients – this is what makes work enjoyable and gives her a sense of meaning and purpose to thrive on.

She grew up in Scotland (about 30 kms away from Audrey!) and completed her education and training as an organisational psychologist before working for two consultancy firms in the UK. In 1996, she migrated to Australia, where she joined SHL as the Consulting Director and has worked closely with Audrey since then.

Following two spells of maternity leave,  she sought the flexibility of being self employed and set up her own boutique consultancy (SENSE) working with leaders and organisations across a range of sectors. This period also included taking time out to raise her two kids and build her veggie patch! When Karen reconnected with academia in 2010 undertaking a  post grad in Wellness, it settled her thoughts about the next part of her career… and the rest is history.

Karen has an MA (Hons) in Psychology, an MSc in Occupational Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Wellness. She has completed a Practice Certificate in Sleep Psychology through the Australian Psychological Society. She is a Registered Psychologist, a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, the College of Organisational Psychologists and the Interest Group in Coaching Psychology.

Client Services Director

Eileen has vast experience supporting senior executives at Managing Director/Board level across multiple sectors, including banking, consulting and construction.

She has worked “behind the scenes” with Audrey and Karen for over 15 years and clients rave about how she’s super-efficient, reliable, accurate, flexible, accommodating and really easy to work with.

Eileen keeps the GLWS home fires burning, on all fronts. She is chief cook and bottle washer, overseeing everything from our IT strategy and networks, event management, accreditation workshops, e-learning program and the biggie – our GLWS bureau-service.

She does all of our worrying about the details of everything, and is always ahead of the game before we even know there’s a problem.

Every business needs an Eileen, and we are so lucky to have her hold the EEK & SENSE fort.

When she’s not switched onto all things GLWS, and in between juggling family commitments, she does occasionally switch off with the help of yoga, walking and catching up with friends.

Marisa Bosotti

Principal Consultant

Marisa’s background in organisational psychology combined with many years in relationship building roles makes her ideally suited to helping our clients, ensuring they have awareness and access to everything they need to achieve their goals with GLWS.

For many clients, Marisa is their first port of call to discuss their needs and interest in GLWS. From there, Marisa is a star at working out next steps, whether that’s booking into an accreditation workshop, more information and case-studies or referral to one of our partner organisations.

There’s never a dull moment in Marisa’s life, as in addition to GLWS she is also primary caregiver to 3 young children and a heavilycommitted partner, not to mention running the odd marathon and running the school P&C.

Another relationship that has stood the test of time, Marisa goes back a long way with Audrey and Karen, first working together in 1998!

"I have really valued EEK & SENSE’s approach of working closely with their accredited partners to ensure great outcomes for clients. I would recommend the GLWS accreditation to any coach who wants to build their skills, expand their service offering, and enhance the wellbeing and performance of their clients."

Andi Pert – Facilitator & Executive Coach, Life NRG

"The GLWS accreditation workshop was extremely valuable. I learned about the GLWS model and reports in-depth, and through case studies and the experience of Karen and Audrey, gained great ideas for handling more challenging wellbeing concerns. All in all, the day was informative, practical and very enjoyable. Thank you."

Caoimhe Richmond, Capability Consulting

"After considerable market research I chose the GLWS program as it was definitely a unique offering that stood out from other diagnostic tools. Completing the GLWS accreditation allowed me to expand my qualifications and provided me with a tool that would add considerable value to my business offering. The online accreditation process was a fantastic experience and Karen and the team were great throughout. Very excited to be on board!"

Melinda Fell, Talent & Coaching Consultant, MFC Consulting

"Individual leaders have experienced a highly personalised intervention, aimed at supporting them to take personal responsibility for making positive changes to enhance their wellbeing. As an organisation, I feel we are now well placed to create targeted wellbeing interventions to address the needs, giving us a better return on investment than simply applying a wellbeing ‘band aid’."

Sean Carroll, GM of People, Culture and Innovation, Australia Post

"GLWS was an important eye-opener, a pointed and timely prompt to make some changes I knew I needed to make….and I feel so much better for it now. Nearly 6 months have passed, and I am still reaping the benefits at a personal level and I can see the positive changes happening across my whole team."

Jen Delves, Head of People Services, QANTAS

"We are witnessing a huge increase in the need and demand for executive wellness. More and more my clients and I are discussing how they spend their time and energy and the difficulties they are experiencing with integrating personal, family and work commitments. The GLWS is invaluable."

Dr Órla NicDomhnaill, CEO, Thrive Advisory

"What has been so powerful for the participants is how tangible the outcomes are. The GLWS allows you to fast-track the coaching conversation and immediately identify which aspects of wellbeing need attention. The conversation very quickly becomes about brainstorming actions that will improve overall wellbeing. It’s such a positive and empowering tool."

Lauren Jauncey, (former) Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Australia Post
